Work in Progress

I am encountering so many problems trying to put together this blog! I'm just doing it all on my own - pushing buttons here and there. Erasing then starting over again. I had the hardest time just uploading this picture of my latest WIP. It's the batik background for a small wall hanging. To finish it, I have to fuse applique pine trees on one side. The pattern was taken from the Nov./Dec. issue of Quiltmaker Magazine. I had a lot of fun choosing all the fabrics from my stash. More pics later as I (hopefully) progress.

Last night our Tuesday night quilt group got together and had dinner at "Steakhouse". We had a great time meeting G's twin daughters who have been visiting her this Xmas vacation. E gave me a beautiful table topper in shades of cranberry, green and tan. She is so good with color and a totally awesome person! Thanks E!

We discussed our next group learning project which will be the Lone Star block also known as the Bethlehem Star. I don't know what my color scheme will be yet but I was thinking of incorporating this block into a wall hanging or maybe prayer carpet? We won't start 'til J gets back from Vancouver so there's lots of time to rummage through my fabric pile. That's what I like about quilting - there's always some new technique to master!

Neat quiz!! I love Pride and Prejudice

I am a real Jane Austen fan and I stumbled upon this neat quiz and here are the surprising results! I would have never guessed it! I love this character especially the newer version where the heroine is played by Keira Knightley. Try this quiz www.strangegirl.com/austenquiz- it's really fun!
Will I get to quilting today? I have been working on a pictorial wall hanging made with batiks. The scene is vagely impressionistic with pine tees and the suggestion of a mountain in the distance. It took me forever to choose the batiks that compose the strata now all I have to do is cut out and fuse the pine trees and layer and quilt. I don't usually do fuseable applique but this project is so reminiscent of the Adirondacks and pine trees are so appropriate now (even though I live in Saudi!)

Blogging Block

Although it's been something that I've wanted to start for a long time, nobody warned me how hard it would be! I still have to figure out how to post some photos so that people out there won't get bored. We are inviting some guests out to dinner tonight so I'll have to work on this tomorrow. Maybe my DS who is home for the holidays will help me figure out the technical parts. You can tell that I was born before the computer age, eh?
